Revolutionary. Puristic. Radical. In 2008, Austrian manufacturer KTM presents its
interpretation of a „super-sportscar“ for the 21st century: the X-BOW serial version.
„Our intention was to bring Colin Chapmans idea of a spartanic, light sportscar, pared down to the essential, into the new millenium – including as many technological innovations as possible“, says KTM‘s CEO Stefan Pierer.
The monocoque is essential to high torsional stiffness and the remarkable power/weight ratio. This is why the main chassis was built as a double wall monolithic structure made out of carbon-fibre-reinforced-plastic. In order to fulfill legal requirements for the vehicle and exploit optimum potential, dynamic and static loading conditions were simulated and compared to realistic conditions.
Since the project start, KTM-Technologies has been an important partner leading the project management for the complete vehicle and the development of composite parts.
Until today, the company has been actively involved in new developments, such as the GT version and successfully accompanied and managed the full process from statutory requirements to serial production.
